VINEYARDS
100% Dundee Hills fruit with 79% estate, organically-farmed Pinot Noir. The vineyards are dry-farmed for quality, low yields and an expression of terroir from the hillside vines.
VINTAGE NOTES
2008 began as a wild weather year, but we enjoyed a long summer with ideal growing conditions. Following a mild but long rain event, we began our harvest in early October. Overall it was an exceptional harvest, with perfect maturity and sugars right at the ideal 22.5o to 23.0o brix level that allow us to make wines of elegance and structure.
WINEMAKING NOTES
Hand-picked, hand-sorted, carefully destemmed, and fermented in small open top fermenters. After a long post-fermentation maceration, this Pinot Noir spent 16 months in French oak barrels, 43% of which were new.
PAIRINGS
Wild salmon, Ahi tuna, wild game, duck, filet mignon, pork tenderloin, or rack of lamb.
SCORES
Wine Advocate: 90 Points
“The 2008 Pinot Noir Dundee Hills offers up a lovely nose of cedar, Asian spices, incense, cherry, and raspberry. Savory on the palate and packed with fruit, this tasty effort has enough structure to evolve for 1-2 years but can be enjoyed now and over the next 6 years.“ - Jay Miller, Wine Advocate, October 2010
Wine Spectator: 90 Points
“Light and fragrant, this is polished in texture, with a tight structure lighting a fire under the plum, spice and savory flavors, lingering easily on the refined finish. 6,308 cases made.“ - Harvey Steiman, Wine Spectator, Dec. 15, 2010
